I’ve been watching so many shows lately, so really have to write down my impressions on the finished ones before i forget them altogether.
It’s a live-action movie about… Like hell can i say about what it is… It’s kinda indie film about some school kids, pop-culture and whatnot. Cool camera angles and weird dialogues included. But it leaves an impression, sometime I’ll definitely watch it again.
Well, it was a long story (50 episodes)! And, honestly, sometimes i thought of giving up. But starting with the latter half it kept getting better and better. It’s not a big deal anyway, but in any case, it worth watching. (Sorry for not including blood in screencaps ^_^).
It’s a love story. It’s about school. It’s stupid. As you can see, it features one-eyed people. But somehow i kept watching it. Can’t say why i like it, but, you know, actually it’s pretty nice ;-).
It’s so overrated… Yes, it’s from the same people as Samurai Champloo, but that’s not enough… Good drawing style just doesn’t compensate for bad story in this case. It simply doesn’t make any sense. Dialogues are so stupid too… What a waste…
Mecha anyone? It bears all the hallmarks of its style, but… German names, good dialogues, some nice sceneries… What else do you need? Anyway, i like it. It’s hard to explain. Are you there?
Another live-action film, and this time it’s obviously mainstream. Nice-looking people with good hairdos. Smooth story… And than really weird twist at the end ;-)! (Don’t know what to say…)
Aka Claws of a beast. Creation of Masaaki Yuasa; if you’ve never seen his work before, than it’s a must watch. 13 episodes of bloodshed and absolutely wild animation. He’s one of my favorite animators now. Even though i don’t like the story, it was worth watching.
Another work of Masaaki Yuasa with his easily recognizable style. Unfortunately, just like in case of Kemonozume, the story is not the kind i like. It’s just plain meaningless for me :-(. Nevertheless…
Gonzo at its best! How come such a promising show ended up being so bad? Remember Genshiken? Why couldn’t it be like this? I can even tell what’s wrong — why you people always have to wear that negative attitude towards hikikomori? I can feel that negativity almost throughout the show. I understand that Japanese society doesn’t like hikikomories (and doesn’t need them), but the same way it doesn’t like otakus — but look how cool was Genshiken! So i think it’s Gonzo… (By the way, i’m watching Red Garden (another Gonzo anime), and it’s pretty good so far…)
P.S.: photos link back to Flickr where you can find different sizes and some more screencaps ;-).

[...] 4.2 Hikikomori - social trend or cultural trend Jump to Comments From my technorati search on hikikomori and Japanese culture, I have come across Minus-one’sblog entry on the film “All About Lily Chou-Chou“. It reminded me that the film was a groundbreaking presentation of the hikikomori phenomenon in Japan. [...]
